thoroughly modern...

well, interning has been great this past week.  i have spent a lot of time at my favorite vintage hardware store looking for the perfect pulls and knobs for various projects for THE designer.   and tuesday i spent the day helping one of my favorite designers pull together a big presentation for a new client.  all in all pretty cool!

the other big news is that i have finally entered the modern world and gotten an iphone. any of my friends reading this are probably rolling their eyes about now... i have been complaining about my old phone for ages! i called it my club kid phone because all it was ok for was texting and taking photos (what i would imagine a modern club kid doing). anyhow, i have a terrible habit of committing to the wrong phone for 2 years. well, i had been holding out for verizon's new iphone for what seemed like forever and now i have one. and i can't figure out how to work the darn thing. i am in awe of it (so pretty!) and a little afraid of it (weird, right?)... well, the folks at my local apple store know me by name as i have been to the store at least once a day for the last several days with questions on how to work it (yes, i am that inept when it comes to technology). there are 3 different apple stores in my vicinity so i have been mixing my visits up between the 3 stores so i don't seem like that much of a loser to the employees working there... i didn't feel so bad last night as chris rock (yeah, THE chris rock) was there last night also with lots of questions about his. anyhow, i have faith that i will somehow get it together and be able to master this phone! maybe i will actually be cool enough for this phone? and perhaps one day i will also be able to type on it using my left hand as well as my right? a gal can dream...

so, can we talk about how amazing the chair in the photo at the top of this post is??? i love love love it! this gal in new jersey reupholsters chairs using fab fabric by my favorite textile and fashion designer trina turk.... i tried to pin from her site to my pinterest and the flash or whatever on her site (you probably know by now that i don't really get this modern technology) wouldn't let me do it. so, i figured i would just give her a shout out in my blog!  so if you love this chair as much as i do (and i don't know how you couldn't!!!) check out her site wild chairy (love the sassy name too!). she's done some really cool stuff that is really inspiring! and she has an etsy store too but last time i checked this amazing chair wasn't there....

so, i am currently helping a friend add some personality into his new apartment. he is recently single and in my opinion needs to make his place look a little more like his sparkling personality instead of the ho hum space it started as. it was fine. just a little beige and black and completely lacking in personality (when he has so much personality!). well, we just finished a quick diy project together and the results are pictured above.  a quick spray of rustoleum meadow green gloss spraypaint to an ok pair of black lamps and an new modern shade did the trick! and we are now on our way to making his living room a little cooler, a little hipper, and a little more him!  and if any of you read apartment therapy, i was inspired by their recent story on kelly green rooms.... this weekend we are working on taking photos around town for a collage of artwork for his living room wall .... a brilliant idea, in my opinion! fingers crossed the results will be as good as in our imaginations and i will have something amazing to share with you next week!

so, for those of you just tuning in and wanting to know more about me you can by going here... and if you didn't already know... i created a facebook page... check it out and "like" it! and follow me on twitter

until next time!
