motel mondays: part two

happy  monday! welcome to my second edition of motel mondays.... this little gem is located on hollywood blvd and i have to say that i love that if you look closely it also offers color tv (woo hoo) and water beds... i wonder if the beds are as old as this fabulous sign? anyhow, i am not sure if everyone else appreciates my love of these signs. but i will say that the collage of the photos we are creating for my friend's living room wall will be awesome and for anyone questioning this love of vintage signs you will soon convert to join us in this passion! the big reveal will be in just a couple of weeks...

anyhow, last week was a little nuts because i was getting ready for my belated 40th birthday party which was actually just a very small last minute murder mystery dinner with 10 of my closest friends and their dates. it was set in the 1980's which made it that much more awesome (the fashion was amazing!) and i loved that some of my friends took the drama and their parts to a whole new level. one friend in particular barely seemed to break character and kept talking about how big computers were going to be, etc... hysterical! above are a few of the table decorations.... a photo of the dearly departed part of the mystery dinner (for those thinking he looks familiar you may remember him as thurston howell from gilligan's island) and of course, candles featuring the work of iconic 80's artist patrick nagel (a quick diy using my photoshop skills and candles from the 99 cent store)...
and below is my vintage dress for the evening. i am a little obsessed with the fab gold winged sleeves and shoulder pads... and i love how it looks against my bedroom wall...

so the very exciting news this week is that i have been invited to guest blog at curbly starting today! i am a little nervous and hopefully they won't be disappointed in my posts.... i was so flattered to be asked and i hope i bring it! i will be contributing posts today through friday so please check them all out and don't hesitate to leave nice comments! my first post will go live at 1:30 central time! woo hoo!
