motel mondays: part 21

i want to start this post by sending a big thank you to centsational girl for featuring my black and white painted rug diy in her best of the blogosphere. what a great start to the week!

today's vintage motel is the circle k motel in culver city.  it is located on sepulveda blvd not far from a few other motels i have featured.  the sign is pretty rustic but i kinda like that it is a little beat up.  as those boys from american pickers say, it adds character!

over the weekend i checked out this really cool show at MOCA called trasmission LA: av club.  i was there on an evening where the kogi bbq truck was on hand for munchies and deejays were playing.  the exhibit was curated by mike d from the beastie boys and was a bit trippy and psychedelic and i loved it!

my favorite part was this fabulous fan driven pinwheel installation by ara peterson and jim drain.  the mix of patterns and colors were so cool in all different sizes!  i immediately felt like alice in wonderland walking through it. i will say i was a smidge motion sick from spending so much time in it but i can't wait to go back and see it again before the show closes.  i will just have to take some dramamine before... this way i can spend much more time in it! for an ariel view photo and more info on this you can go here.  and don't ya think these designs go perfectly with my new black and white painted rug?

for those of you just tuning in and wanting to know more about me you can by going here... and if you didn't already know... i created a facebook page... check it out and "like" it! and follow me on twitter and you can even follow my boards on pinterest too!

until next time...

  1. For some reason, the "funkedelic" and 70's design of this motel reminds me so much of our serviced apartments in central london. It has the same vibe, too.
