motel mondays: part 24

so, i snapped a photo of today's motel, the ocean lodge in santa monica, while running an errand over the weekend. this fab vintage motel is steps from the beach and also steps from this great dive bar i also love, called chez jay.  i think i need to go back to snap another when we aren't in the midst of june gloom by the ocean 'cause i think it would look even more fab with blue skies behind it!

i love the fact that with spring/summer in LA comes super amazing scents in the air.  waking up to the smell of jasmine is heaven!  and i love that it seems to be all over town in unexpected places.  i was just in a very industrial part of downtown visiting these guys that make cool furniture from reclaimed wood and amidst all the cool graffiti art and crumbling buildings was an entire city block of  lined with jasmine! i am totally planting lots of jasmine around whatever home i own someday.  or at the very least i can see about planting some in my wattles farm plot.  as of last week i am only one more volunteer weekend away from getting on that darn waiting list.  fingers crossed it won't be too long.

oh, and a friend said to me the other day "maybe you'll meet a cute single guy at the community garden you're joining, you should keep your eyes peeled..."  well, i did meet a really cute guy when i was there last weekend.  he was super smart and funny and single and straight and made my volunteer hours weeding fly by.  only problem is he's eleven...

this weekend was exhausting with lots of odd jobs but i did get to take a break on sunday and hit one of my favorite local markets. how super fab is the orange and white 1950's arm chair i spotted?

it is super weird not interning this week but i am looking forward to knocking out a lighting class project that i have be procrastinating on. and i am planning on completing all sorts of fun diy projects for a very cool room i will be revealing in just a couple of weeks.

for those of you just tuning in and wanting to know more about me you can by going here... and if you didn't already know... i created a facebook page... check it out and "like" it! and follow me on twitter and you can even follow my boards on pinterest too!

until next time...

the formerly almost 40 year old intern

I read your blog from the beginning up to now! Well done
What happened to the jewellery redesign? You said you were helping a couple of friends with the redecoration of their home. Are you still doing these jobs? X

  2. Paula- Wow! Thanks so much for taking the time to read my entire blog!! And thanks for taking the time to comment. To answer your questions... Re the jewelry store, that project never ended up getting off the ground. I devoted a lot of time to creating new logos and design and merchandising plans for the store owner only to have him decide not to move forward on anything because he was having a lot of financial problems. Needless to say, I was devastated. As for helping friends, yes, I am in the middle of a bunch of friends projects. Currently working on a master bedroom, a powder room and 3 offices. Hopefully they will be complete soon so that I can reveal them on my blog so please stay tuned! xo
